Wrinkle Treatment

As inevitable as the formation of wrinkles are for some individuals, there are various forms of wrinkle treatment available to suit almost every individual

Moisturizers loaded with vitamins

One of the most common wrinkle treatments is applying moisturizers with Vitamins A acid, Antioxidants, or Alpha-Hydroxy Acids that help in preventing the formation of wrinkles. Though some require continuous usage (such as Vitamin A Acid based products), most can cause some mild discomfort such as peeling, redness or slight stinging, though this is not permanent.

Other creams in this category provide some form of sun protection, which is an advantage.

Ordinary types of moisturizers or creams that do not contain said components usually only temporarily reduce the very fine lines.

Cosmetic/Medical Procedures

There is a wide array of cosmetic procedures to choose from to reduce wrinkles.

  • Botox. One of the most popular of all procedures, mainly due to the fact that it is one of the simplest of all forms. Botulinum toxin is injected in areas that have lines, such as around the eyes and the forehead. This paralyzes the muscles which in turn reduces the sight of wrinkles.
  • Plastic surgery. Another form of wrinkle treatment is that of plastic surgery. This includes what most know as facelifts.
  • Fillers. To flatten wrinkles and to give a much fuller look, fillers are injected into the skin. The most common fillers are collagen, hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite. Injections usually have to be repeated after several months to retain the look.
  • Dermabrasion. The individual usually is put under general anesthesia as this is a surgical procedure. A sanding piece of equipment is used to remove the outer layer of the skin. Though improvement of the look is excellent, if not performed properly by an expert, could result in permanent skin damage such as scars and discoloration.
  • Glycolic Acid Peels. Application of substances onto the face that cause peeling to reveal a new layer of skin. Usually causes only slight improvement.
  • Heat and Radiofrequency. Facial tissues are heated with the use of a radiofrequency device with infrared light sources. This is a non-evasive form of treatment.
